Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

  • December 7, 2021
  • Tips To Reduce Stress

Most people are not drinking sufficient water!  Your brain is 80% water  and needs proper hydration to function properly. Your stress hormones increase when you are dehydrated ,  and this causes fatigue, poor decision making, and dry and wrinkled skin. Who wants that? Also! Not drinking enough water can lead to craving Carbohydrate foods (Carbs), as your liver needs adequate water to maintain steady blood sugar levels (Dr Jockers, 2021).You are more likely to become dehydrated when you’re experiencing stress, as your heart rate is up and you’re breathing more heavily, so therefore losing fluid,  according to Renee Melton, MS, RD, LD. Dehydration causes your heart to have to pump faster to get sufficient oxygen to your cells.

What are the symptoms of dehydration?

  • Headaches
  • Brain fog
  • Dizziness
  • Constipation
  • Fatigue

Benefits of drinking water

  • Helps to remove toxic waste
  • Helps brain function
  • Helps to decrease pain from arthritis by lubricating your joints
  • Decreases carb cravings
  • Helps to increase energy

Solution:

Drink eight cups of water per day. Drink two cups immediately when you get out of bed, as you need to rehydrate yourself after eight hours of sleeping. Then try to drink two cups of water mid-morning, near lunch, and in the afternoon. I make up a jug of water and squeeze in fresh lemon juice and it tastes delicious! This is great for your immune system, as lemon juice is very high in vitamin C and helps to remove toxins from your body. Also, don’t count your tea and coffee toward your fluid intake, as these beverages can dehydrate you. Don’t take my word for it, try drinking more water, you will feel better, think more clearly and best of all your skin looks younger.
